Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of businesses do you work with?

The short answer is B2B IT businesses.

Here is how this industry jargon translates. B2B means business to business or companies that have other companies as customers. IT means information technology including hardware, software, and service products and solutions including mixes of these items.

In other words, we can help Microsoft with product marketing for Azure (a business cloud platform) but can't help them with product marketing for Xbox (a consumer gaming system).
What size of businesses can you help?

The short answer is any size business.

Our clients range from startups to small and medium businesses to large and global enterprises. An emerging startup may want help with product launch activities, an established small or medium business may want help with increasing online content for prospects, and a large or global company may want help with developing marketing collateral for lead generation and sales tools for closing deals. Some clients want help with product marketing across launches, online, collateral, and tools.

Every business faces its own product marketing challenges, so we focus on overcoming the specific challenges of each client. We've completed more than 100 projects for a diverse collection of clients, so it's possible we have a success story to share that is relevant to your business. Share your product marketing challenge using the form above and we'll check our projects for similarities.

A better question is 'what is the right product marketing assistance for my business'? Let's collaborate to answer this question, together. Get preliminary answers at no cost or obligation by contacting us using the form above.
What is your shortest and longest project?

The short answer is one month for shortest and one year for longest.

Beginning work with a new client involves a bit of research on our part. This makes the shortest viable project about one month long, so there's enough time for everything to come together and the client to receive a completed deliverable.

There's really no limit for longest project. Business plans and budgets are updated periodically, so it's rare for a single project to extend beyond a year without significant changes that create a new project.
How long does it take to complete a deliverable?

The short answer is at least one week and up to one month.

All deliverables are planned so they are developed in four stages: 1) outline, 2) draft, 3) candidate, and 4) final. This creates an opportunity for your staff to review and share feedback between each stage. Exceptions can occur for urgently needed deliverables and for other reasons approved by clients.

Our methodology allows us to simultaneously work on multiple deliverables. This is possible because we can be working on one deliverable while your staff is reviewing another. For example, a 3-month project for 8 deliverables can result in the first item completing on week 4 with one additional item completing each week through week 11.
How much does it cost to work together?

The short answer is as low as $0.

We offer a valuable but no-cost diagnostic service where we use our Product Marketing Checklist and your website to determine the mix of product marketing assets across four categories: 1) product launch, 2) online content, 3) marketing collateral, and 4) sales tools. We do all of the work independently to save your business hours of effort and eliminate disrupting on-going projects and tasks. When we're done, we'll deliver our findings via email and schedule a call to answer questions.

Otherwise, we will engage with clients on projects starting at $5,000 monthly on a fixed-fee basis. Everything follows a Statement of Work including budget, timeline, and deliverable(s). This allows us to achieve the best outcomes since we can put in extra effort if needed without having to charge additional fees. This also avoids you paying for us to become knowledgeable about your business.
Do you work on an hourly basis?

The short answer is never.

Managing clocks makes it impossible to surpass client expectations, so we won't try hourly work.

Instead, we collaborate with clients to define a desirable outcome, acceptable budget, and required timeline for each deliverable. No one can predict how long it will take to complete any product marketing deliverable, so we prefer to assume all of the risk of incorrectly estimating the time, effort, and resources required. This seems like the right thing to do for all of our clients.
